About Me
I am a warm, compassionate and experienced counselling professional who has worked in mental health services for 15 years. I have expertise in helping people who are struggling with the following:
- Managing complex thoughts and emotions
- Having relationship and friendship problems
- Managing the impact of childhood alcoholism of parents/caregivers
- People pleasing behaviours and difficulties with setting boundaries
- Making sense of a neurodiverse diagnosis
- Self-critical with negative internal thoughts
- Experiencing episodes of anxiety and panic
- Coping with persistent low mood
My approach involves me listening, empathising, validating and, where appropriate, gently challenge someone’s perception of themselves in the world. I am interested and curious in hearing your story, from childhood till the present day. Often, there are many contributing factors as to why you may be struggling today.
My goal is to work with you and support you while we discover and explore what the factors may be. I will go at your pace, I appreciate that it can be a difficult process exploring past and recent events that have caused hurt, upset and distress.
My training and experience has taught me that I can help others by offering an empathic, non-judgemental and collaborative approach. I will work with you at your pace, and with the issues that you feel comfortable sharing.
I will support you by helping you to make sense of why you feel the way you do, and to discover what it could be that has triggered your current emotions, thoughts and feelings. Through this discovery and bringing your patterns into your conscious awareness can you make significant change to your life in a really fulfilling way.
